President Ursula von der Leyen, Executive Vice-President for Technological Sovereignty, Security and Democracy Henna Virkkunen and Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy Stéphane Séjourné will attend the AI Action Summit on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 February in Paris, France.
On Monday, President von der Leyen and Executive Vice-Presidents Virkkunen and Séjourné will attend a multilateral meeting with European heads of state and government and CEOs, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. Later in the evening, President von der Leyen will participate in a working dinner hosted by President Macron, which will provide further opportunities for dialogue between world leaders. Earlier in the day, Executive Vice-President Virkkunen will speak at two sessions coordinated by the European AI Board: a panel discussion on “Future-proofing trustworthy AI governance, with an update on EU codes of practice”, and a workshop on “Building the EU AI continent: AI champions and AI factories.”
On Tuesday morning, President von der Leyen will speak at the closing session of the Summit. Executive Vice-President Virkkunen will visit Station F, Europe’s largest incubator, and deliver a keynote speech highlighting Europe’s strengths to play a leading role in trustworthy AI, from top talent and world-class supercomputers to innovative and robust start-ups. She will also hold bilateral meetings with ministers and AI business leaders.
The summit is hosted by France and co-chaired by India. It will bring together prime ministers, heads of state, technology leaders and key stakeholders from around the world to discuss global AI governance and innovation. Hosted by France and building on previous AI Safety Summits (Bletchley Park, Seoul) and global initiatives, the summit aims to build global consensus on an ethical approach to AI development, while ensuring that innovation can thrive and focusing on AI serving the public good.
