Moment Blue Ghost spacecraft lands on the Moon

Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost has become the first ever successful commercial moon landing.

Newly released footage captured by the spacecraft shows the moment of touchdown on Mare Crisium, a basin in the north-east quadrant of the Moon on 2 March.

The mission is part of the latest collaboration by US space agency Nasa and private companies.

The first commercial spacecraft to land on the moon was Intuitive Machines’ Odysseus, which made the journey in February 2024, but tipped over upon touch down hindering its operation.
