Commissioner Brunner holds a Youth Dialogue on security and migration priorities in Austria

Today (3 March) Home Affairs and Migration Commissioner Commissioner Magnus Brunner (pictured), will hold a Youth Policy Dialogue at the Laaerberg Gymnasium in Vienna.

The dialogue will bring together 150 students. Together with the Commissioner, they will discuss 30 years of Austria in the EU, the Schengen area, as well as the risks and impact of the use of drugs for young people, the growing threat of extremism in the EU, including the fight against anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim hatred, and migration management. Youth dialogues are part of the European Commission’s commitment to mainstream the voice of young people in EU policy-making, as set out in European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen‘s Political Guidelines for 2024-2029. These dialogues are important to ensure that the voice of young people is heard and helps shape the work of the Commission.

In the afternoon, the Commissioner will also participate in the event ‘For a safe Europe: How we can protect ourselves better together’. There, Commissioner Brunner will discuss the implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum and upcoming EU security and migration priorities, including work towards a new common approach on returns and the Internal Security Strategy.
