Commissioner Dombrovskis travels to Latvia to participate in the country’s Recovery and Resilience Facility annual event

The Annual Event of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) in Latvia took place on 10 February in Riga, with Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis joining national authorities, business leaders, civil society representatives, and industry experts to review and exchange on Latvia’s progress under NextGenerationEU, and discuss future priorities for the programme.

Commissioner Dombrovskis delivered a keynote speech at the National Opera, covered by EBS. Following the address, he joined the Finance Minister of Latvia, Arvils Ašeradens, for a press briefing, where the Commissioner highlighted the implementation of the national RRF plan, EU’s investments to boost competitiveness of the Latvian economy, geopolitical challenges for the EU and Latvia, and the EU’s approach to tackle them, including main priorities of the new European Commission. The briefing also provided an opportunity to showcase reforms and investments for the growth of economy, maximising the benefits of the EU’s funding for Latvian people and regions, including RRF financial support for connecting into the EU’s electricity grid.

These annual events are vital forums for assessing how EU-backed reforms and investments funded by NextGenerationEU are translating into real-world benefits. They foster dialogue, enhance accountability, and promote collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of recovery plans across member states.
