Hurricane Beryl seen from space in Caribbean

Hurricane Beryl, the first named hurricane of the season, is expected to bring destructive winds and flooding to some Caribbean islands.

Satellite footage shows the hurricane on the move, with speeds predicted to reach up to 155mph (250km/h).

Barbados’ meteorological service has warned of power outages and flash flooding, as the eye of the hurricane is expected to pass about 26 miles (42km) south of the island.

The BBC’s Stav Danaos forecasts that the hurricane is expected to get stronger as it progresses.
