NatCon conference to go ahead at new Brussels venue

A new venue has been announced for the National Conservatism conference on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 April in Brussels. The conference will now take place at the Sofitel Brussels Europe on Place Jourdan. The conference had been due to take place in the Concert Noble until the venue pulled out last week under pressure from Mayor of Brussels, Philippe Close.

Some 500 delegates will hear speeches from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, French presidential candidate Eric Zemmour, Germany’s Cardinal Gerhard Müller, former British MEP Nigel Farage, and former UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman.

Commenting on the new venue, Conference Chairman and Chairman of the Edmund Burke Foundation, Yoram Hazony, said:

“We are delighted that Sofitel has stepped in. It is frankly shameful that Brussels politicians should seek to cancel the voices of leading Conservative academics and politicians who are coming together to address the issues that European citizens care most about. It is for others to question the actions and motivations of Mayor Close and the Concert Noble; we are just delighted to be able to have our meeting safely and securely and to make our voices heard.”

Belgian Police authorities have reassured the organisers that the Sofitel Brussels Europe will be fully secured against any protests that might be planned. The area around the hotel will be closed off to everybody except conference delegates.

The conference will run 9am Tuesday until 6.30pm Wednesday.
