Schoolboy Max makes a clean sweep of littered seaside beaches

Max at Cleethorpes

Schoolboy Max Robson has cleaned up 24 beaches in just a day for a shark charity.

Max, 11, cleared the sandy stretches between Skegness and Scarborough along the UK’s East Coast.

He is raising money for Bite-Back, a charity that helps shark and marine conservation.

Every year, Max embarks on a charity challenge.

Since 2018 he has raised a total of £4,000.

However, the 24-hour beach clean was his toughest to date, but he was helped all the way by his dad, Steve.

The couple, who lives near Scunthorpe began in Skegness at 11.00 am last Sunday and travelled up the Lincolnshire coast throughout the day, before crossing to East Yorkshire and finishing in Scarborough at 11.00 am the following morning.

Max said: “My favourite part was being on the beach at night, even if it was a bit strange.”

Steve added:

“It was very tiring, but it was great fun and we had a proper adventure.

“It was very unusual and was definitely out of Max’s comfort zone.

“It was quite eery on the beach on our own, it has to be said.

“He’s never stayed up all night before so that was quite hard for him, but he powered through.

“He kept going though and did really well. It was a great memory for us both and it was nice to get some help along the way.”
