A Ferrari F40 given to four-time Formula 1 world champion Alain Prost is up for sale.
The car – seen as one of the fastest productions in its time – was handed to the driver when he joined the Ferrari stable from McClaren.
It was firstly registered to his Alpine home in Meribel, France, in February 1990.
It’s admitted the car was never used by Prost and was sold soon after he too delivery.
However, before the F40 headed to its next owner Prost signed it.
His signature I on the roof being covered in a thick clear coat so that it could stand the test of time.
It’s still clearly visible today.
The car has “Ferrari Classiche” certification which says it has its original chassis, engine, gearbox, and bodywork.
The car is in France and has just 2,900 miles on the clock.
It is being sold through RM Sotheby’s.
It is expected to fetch more than £2.5 million.
