Another crucial step in achieving the goals of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan to reduce or eliminate the carcinogenic risk associated with chemicals in food is the adoption of lower maximum levels (MLs).
This choice was made when member states were asked to keep an eye on the amount of arsenic in foods, and it is based on an EFSA scientific report from 2021.
The risk of exposure to a carcinogenic pollutant in our food chain is being further reduced, according to Stella Kyriakides, commissioner for health and food safety.
