Deputy PM Dominic Raab will “be sacked” if bullying claims are proved, suggests Rish Sunak

Deputy PM Dominic Raab

Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab will be sacked if an investigation reveals he has been a bully.

PM Rishi Sunak said:

“I’ve asked the independent adviser some time ago to have a look at the historic issues that have been raised.

“The independent adviser is conducting his investigation, I can’t prejudge the outcome of that investigation, it’s right that it concludes.

“But as people have seen from how I’ve acted in the past, when I’m presented with conclusive independent findings that someone in my Government has not acted with the integrity or standards that I would expect of them, I won’t hesitate to take swift and decisive action.

“That’s what I’ve done in the past.

“But with regard to this situation, it’s right that we let the independent process continue.”

Eight formal bullying complaints have been made against Mr Raab.

An independent investigation is being carried on.

Mr Raab has always denied wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, in a Cabinet reshuffle the Business Department is being merged with Trade – and Kemi Badenoch will take charge.

Grant Shapps will be shifted to a new Energy Security department.

He will be titled Secretary of State for Net Zero.

Michelle Donelan will head up a new ministry of Science, Innovation and Technology.

Along with new Party Chairman Greg Hands, Lucy Frazer joins the Cabinet with the Culture brief.

Mr Sunak tweeted: “The Government needs to reflect the priorities of the British people and be designed to deliver for them.

“These changes will focus teams on the issues that will build a better future for our children & grandchildren.”
